Record participation in the Niedersachsen company mission to Seattle

Niedersachsen Aviation visited the largest aerospace cluster worldwide in Seattle for the 8th time. The focus of the business mission was on the PNAA-Conference which is one of the biggest conferences for aerospace suppliers in the US. As a highlight PNAA awarded Niedersachsen Aviation with the “Chairman’s Award”.

With 42 participants from 29 companies the delegation reached a record participation. For member companies from the European Aerospace Cluster Partnership (EACP) it was the second time to be invited to join the business mission from Niedersachsen Aviation. The aim is to jointly develop new market potential for European suppliers - especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) - as well as the expansion of the global cluster cooperation.

The feedback from the delegates was throughout positive. Especially the mix of large companies, SMEs and the political representatives from the State of Niedersachsen were commended.

The program provided numerous opportunities for international networking and business development: One highlight among others was the joint "European Business Breakfast" which was organized in close co-operation with the Boeing Supplier Management. More than 60 participants from Europe and the US among them 8 big system manufacturer and numerous medium-sized companies attended the top-class event sponsored by Aircraft Philipp, ALJO and Derichebourg.

Doug Ackerman, Director of Payloads Supply Chain Strategy at Boeing, John Pilla, CTO at Spirit Aerosystems and Chris Done, Purchasing and Supply Chain at DAHER North America presented challenges and opportunities within the worldwide largest aerospace cluster in Seattle. Besides B2B Meetings and factory visits at Boeing and several opportunities for networking the participation at the PNAA Conference was core activity of the mission.

Since 2010 Niedersachsen Aviation regularly organizes business missions to the State of Washington. In 2017 European partners have been invited to join the mission on a multi-national level. Since 2011 Niedersachsen Aviation has developed a close collaboration with the Pacific North-West Aerospace Alliance (PNAA) as local partner in Seattle. These good relations could now be leveraged for the benefit of the travelling entrepreneurs to open up new markets.

PNAA honored the good relationship through its annual appointed “Excellence-Awards”. Norbert Steinkemper received this year's Chairman's Award, representing the commitment of the State of Niedersachsen and the Niedersachsen Aviation Initiative, in recognition of his achievements in intensifying and internationalizing the transatlantic co-operation between the two aviation clusters. The award is a great honor and recognition for the entire team of Niedersachsen Aviation.

Niedersachsen Aviation would like to thank all partners and participants for the successful delegation trip and is already looking forward to the PNAA Conference 2019.
